USCIS

Adoption & Orphan

Forms for international adoption and orphan visa processing. Includes I-600 (Orphan Petition) and I-800 (Adoption).

International adoption forms allow U.S. citizens to adopt foreign-born children and obtain immigration benefits for them. Form I-600 petitions to classify an orphan as an immediate relative for both Hague and non-Hague Convention countries. Form I-600A is the advance processing application for orphan petitions. Form I-800 is used under the Hague Adoption Convention to classify a Convention adoptee as an immediate relative. Form I-800A is the advance processing application for Hague Convention adoptions. These processes require home studies, background checks, and coordination between USCIS, the U.S. embassy in the child's country, and adoption agencies.
